Electric cars are …
Electric cars are nice, but it still takes electricity from a fossil fuel power plant to charge it up. Also, if everyone started to use electric cars the electricity grid will have to be beefed up and that’s expensive and requires more carbon based output to create. Therefore: ‘nice idea but needs more work.’

Even if you use electricity produced from burning coal the electic car is still cleaner because it is far more efficient in converting energy into movement so you need a less amount of coal.

If an electric car …
If an electric car is to be considered “clean” then you have to use electricity that comes from a clean source. If you use “dirty” electricity then the car isn’t clean, you’ve just moved the pollution from he vicinity of your car to the power plant (and perhaps the area where the fuel of the power plant is mined).

Think the United States has done nothing, huh? Well, who do you think supplies the majority of those wind turbines, solar panels, and hydroelectric powerplants to Europe? Two words, General Electric. Go to GE’s website and look at the products they make, you’d be VERY surprised at the kind of tech they develop.

I always wanted something like THAT!
If you let a single electric loco run all alone, it accelerates also very very fast. Then I imagined, what if you have a powerfull electric engine in a car?
This is not the only project. There is a custom build electric Porsche already. And there is the “Tesla Roadster”…
I’d like to have an electric sports car, too!
But the oil lobby wouldn’t allw it :-/
